It is also used by some bloggers to generate revenue through advertisements placed on their blog pages. Most blogging websites, including WordPress, rely on user content to keep the blogs up and running and visitors coming back to add content; therefore, it is crucial to create a community atmosphere where readers can easily interact with other bloggers.

A blogging website attracts many visitors, due to the fact that it allows users to make comments on posts they read, thus creating a form of interaction between the writer and reader. A blog receives traffic mainly from search engines and sponsored links; therefore, it is important for a blogging website to build its popularity among search engines by keeping its content relevant to its topic, writing interesting and informative posts, and allowing other bloggers to link to these posts. In effect, every time a blogger makes a post, this also creates backlinks to the blog, helping it rise in the rankings of popular search engines such as Google, Yahoo, and MSN.
